Program Description

Course
BUAD/CE 387: Business and Civic Engagement Internship

Spend 15 days and 14 nights at Yachana Lodge in Ecuador. Located next to the Rainforest Reserve. Yachana Lodge is a window to the reality of life and culture in Ecuador's Amazon region on the Napo River. The lodge sits on more than 1,000 acres (405 hectares) of land in the small community of Mondaña, located on the banks of the Napo River between Puerto Misahuallí and El Coca.

Yachana Lodge is dedicated to the preservation of the environment and local culture, and offers comfortable lodging while also raising awareness about the importance of authentic ecotourism/geotourism.

Participants will explore this Eco-Tourist destination, what they do to be sustainable, how they define sustainability, and the dangers of this area. We will also volunteer with the community-building projects that Yachana supports in nearby indigenous communities.
